The shifts are all day (8am-6pm), you are expected to work every weekend, they pick your lunch time, and give you attitude when you ask for time off. One time, a manager had me hide from the cops to let extra people in after they already reached capacity. They break zoning laws so often that the cops need to count the cars to make sure they’re not letting too many people in. When a child was missing his parents, the manager made an announcement on the park intercom to find the parents, and literally said “shame on you” to the parents… For the more daring try our bumper boats. A manager also told one of the male employees that she’s going to “take a razor to his face” when he showed up with the slightest of stubble. In addition to our Mountain of water slides, Tomahawk Lake Waterpark offers a variety of boating experiences, from a ride on the Gitchie Gumee, 20 passenger paddle wheeler to a ride on one of our swan, duck, turtle, blue heron, rowboats or paddleboats. The manager told one female employee, “your appearance keeps getting worse at worse,” referring to her winged eyeliner and dyed hair. They even yell at and overwork the 15 year old staff members. The management yells at their employees and overpaying customers left and right. The owners have obnoxious fights with each other, cursing each other out in front of customers and employees. The bathrooms are constantly dirty and there’s mold all over. There are leeches in the lake, maggots in the ice cream machine, rats in the catering building, ice cream booth, and trading post.

I expressed my discomfort with this but the management insisted. I suggested they make the signs bilingual, and they said “no, they should learn English.” I was also told to sell non-swimmer wristbands automatically to people who didn’t speak well English, regardless of their swimming ability. They refuse to put any of the signs in Spanish, making it much harder for employees to do their jobs. A majority of the customers visit from NY and aren’t English speakers. The staff is unprofessional, racist, messy, and nasty. Out of all 6 jobs I’ve had, Tomahawk Lake is by far the worst.
