This is very much a first draft, something to be built upon as the meta develops and it becomes more obvious which specific spells will have the most impact. Even something as simple as swapping out Arcane Shot for Overwhelm if the potential for extra damage outweighs the benefit of being able to go face. You could put more Secrets in, or increase the amount of 1-Cost spells to give you a higher chance of an insane Lock and Load turn. There are a lot of other directions you could take this kind of deck, especially if you cut the curve even more harshly and drop things like Krolusk Barkstripper, Rinling's Rifle and Piercing Shot. Venomous Scorpid has the added bonus of being a Beast, which while not incredibly relevant for the spells I've chosen to include in the deck is a good tag to have when considering the possibilities for generated cards. You'll be hard-pressed to find a bad option from Wandmaker, though there are a total of 8 options so don't go into it anticipating any particular one. Wandmaker and Venomous Scorpid are our only Neutral cards for this deck - which makes sense, given the focus on spells. There are a lot of damaging spells in this deck at quite low costs, which will make picking off minions the same turn you play him something you can do quite consistently. Spellbender will not activate if the opponent plays Dark Wispers on one of his own minions if the opponent has a full board.The Spellbender likely comes from a similar tradition to the Spellbreakers. Blood elves are known to have become adept at absorbing, manipulating, and redirecting all forms of arcane, holy, and demonic magics. While there is no specific character or spell with this name, the Spellbender minion displays a blood elf reflecting a spell. The scenario where it's better than Counterspell is in intercepting positive minion Enchantments, such as Blessing of Kings or Mark of the Wild. In many situations, this card is usually worse: while it can neatly block a Fireball or Shadow Word: Death just like Counterspell can, it doesn't block spells with secondary effects, such as the card draw of Wrath or the side targets of Explosive Shot. If a Counterspell counters a spell, Spellbender will not activate from that spell.

Spellbender activates after the spell has completed its casting phase, but before it takes effect.

If a spell with a return to hand effect is intercepted by Spellbender, such as Shadowstep or Time Rewinder, the Spellbender minion will be returned to the hand of the player who played the Secret, not that of the player who cast the triggering spell.

Spells which require their targets to meet certain criteria, such as Shadow Word: Death and Execute, will still take full effect when re-targeted to the Spellbender, even if the Spellbender does not itself meet the criteria.

That minion is then made the new target for the triggering spell, be it a damaging attack, a useful buff or even Mind Control.

Regardless of what type of spell triggers it, a Spellbender minion will be summoned under the control of the player who played the Secret.

Only player-targeted spells will trigger the secret, not randomly targeted ones. Spellbender takes effect when the enemy uses any targeted spell on any minion, whether allied or not.
